Having fun yet??

Are we having fun yet? I am not. I have been working overnights since June 18th for a remodel in the store. We are working from 4 p.m. til 2 to 4 a.m. the next day. I am dragging. It is starting to wear on me. I know that Keith and Shayne are not liking it. Shayne keeps asking me if I can stop working so that I can spend more time with him and be home at night. Hopefully we only have today and tomorrow and maybe next sunday. I am hoping that tomorrow will be it. So hope you are having fun!!!!!

Dad

As we all have given thanks this past week to our fathers I am reminded that it has been 2 1/2 years since I lost my dad. Father's Day last year was horrible and this year was a little better. I give thanks everyday to the fact that I still have my stepdad and he has been there for all of us when we needed him. I still miss my father everyday and wish he was still here. I miss the telephone conversations that we would have and the advise he would give. I even miss the arguements that we would sometimes have as we were so much alike. I still talk to him at night, but it just is not the same. I wish I could hear his voice just one more time. I wish I could tell him I love him one more time and hear him say it to me one more time. I know that some say when someone leaves this earth that they can still hear you and they are always with you in your heart. However, the real thing is better. I know that he is no longer in any pain and that someday we will all be together again. I have to believe that to survive the pain of losing him too soon. I regret that he did not live long enough to meet the young lady David is going to marry. He would have loved her. On my song list is a song called "You can let go now Daddy", you should listen. The song says it all.
I love you dad. Kim

Shayne's spring band concert

Shayne's final band concert of the year. He played the Timpani and the drums. He has gotten really good. He has a wonderful knack for music. He amazes me. He learns a song from the sheet music and then plays from memory. It is just amazing. The first picture is before the concert started and he was being himself (just plain goofy). We just love him so much!!

Shayne at the Carnival of Care

Shayne's attempt at the hula hoop and in the bounce house while doing his community service work at the Carnival for Care. The Carnival for Care was to raise money to the childrens cancer center for a local hospital here in Las Vegas. He had a great time helping. Our Boy Scout Troop helped with the Carnival.

Shayne's First Boy Scout Backpacking trip

The Boy Scouts went backpacking to Big Falls at Mt Charleston in April. As you can see they encountered snow (even here in Las Vegas). They had a great time. Shayne (of all people) had to create the slide down the glacier. He is the one sliding down in both pictures. The rest of the boys had to follow (of course). They had snowball fights with other hiker that were there for the day. They hiked in on friday late afternoon, pitched their tents and hiked out on sunday morning. The boys had to carry their own gear including their own water and food. The filtered more water from a stream. Shayne says he had a great time.
